How Do You Protect Yourself from Getting Sick?

With the holidays under way, I'm sure we all are wondering the best way to avoid spreading sicknesses. First of all, I recommend NOT getting any vaccinations or injections. For those of you that are for the injections, I assure you that today I'm not going to go any further than stating that in addition to exhausting the body unnecessarily, they are known to harm, and have not actually been proven to have any benefit whatsoever. Also, ditch the face masks. There is substantial evidence available that shows that they only cause harm for the body and do not protect from any illnesses.

Modern sickness "preventions" aside, there are many other ways to keep from getting sick.

As with any illness, the most effective prevention is simply making sure your body is as healthy as can be. Eat healthy foods (at least try to eat according to your blood type and metabolic type, and properly food combine), drink enough water (1/2 your weight in pounds, as ounces of reverse osmosis water, 150lbs = 75oz), make sure that your channels of elmination are working properly, try to reduce stress as much as you can, and support your immune system. Take time to yourself each day for slow deep breathing, to relax and be calm, preferably in nature.

For additional protection, we usually tend to sterilize every surface that could harbor pathogens. This may not be the best approach.

Every surface is covered in bacteria, both good and bad (including our skin and GI tract). Just like taking antibiotics, disinfectants kill off both good and bad bacteria, and most bad bacteria multiply faster than the good ones. Repeated use of disinfectants has shown to cause mutation in bacteria, making them more resistant. Disinfectants are more harmful in the long run and should not be used unless necessary.

How, then, should we kill off harmful pathogens during the holidays?

Essential oils are known to be very good natural disinfectants, many of them are antimicrobial and antiseptic. Bacteria cannot grow in essential oils. Essential oils are made by plants, which may depend on them to protect themselves from harmful bacteria overgrowth. Essential oils are not as harmful to good bacteria. Essential oils can be diffused in the air, spreading their wonderful smell throughout the house. Even the smell of essential oils is known to benefit your health. A few drops can be added to a spray bottle of water and misted on doorknobs just like commercial disinfectants. You can mist it on yourself too, unlike most disinfectants.

What oils should I use?

Feel free to use whatever essential oils you like; they are all helpful in keeping you healthy (provided they are from a reputable source)

These are some of the most common that are used as disinfectants:

  • Clove - one of the best single oils to kill pathogens.

  • Pine - breaks down spike proteins, protecting from Covid.

  • Fennel - also breaks down harmful spike proteins, antiseptic.

  • Cinnamon - diffuse this instead of using scented candles, it's a good disinfectant too.

  • Young Living blend Thieves - one of the most common disinfectant blends. Contains clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, & rosemary essential oil

  • Nature's Sunshine blend Essential Shield - A great disinfectant blend from a great company, that has all of the same oils as Young Living's Thieves, plus more. Contains orange, clove, eucalyptus, cinnamon, lavender, lemon, pine, wild rosemary, peppermint, grapefruit, & thyme essential oil

Notice how these essential oils are "hot" oils and should be diluted before applying to skin. Other hot oils can make great disinfectants too.

Be careful when using essential oils around pets and babies that aren't used to them. If you are concerned about whether it would bother them, make sure that the oils are well diluted, and diffuse for short periods with longer intervals between. For example, diffuse for 15 minutes and keep the diffuser off for an hour before diffusing again. Use essential oils sparingly, as a little goes a long way.
